The Home Economics department offers a number of courses at KS4 and 5.
At KS3 pupils will have the opportunity to study Food and Textiles, and they will complete projects in a carousel system alongside Design and Technology. In food they will study an Ideal Kitchen and Foods from around the World, and in Textiles use of the sewing machine to manufacture creative items.
At KS4 pupils can study GCSE’s in both Food and Nutrition and Art Textiles. At KS5, we offer Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition, AS and A level Health and Social Care and AS and A level Art Textiles. We use all WJEC examining bodies to deliver specifications.
The department has strong links with outside agencies for the Rotary Young Chef competition which we participate in yearly. Students also get involved in preparing refreshments for the senior citizens tea party in December each year.
