Top 10 : Trips
1. Be positive about the trip!
2. Check any letters which may have come home from school and read the information with your child. Keep the letters safe.
3. Be sure about when and where the trip starts and finishes and what the contact telephone numbers are.
4. Find out if any specific equipment is needed. Try to get or borrow these in plenty of time.
5. If you need help to pay for the trip, speak to the member of staff who is organising the trip.
6. If your child is not used to being away from home (particularly if the trip is an overnight one) try to organise for them to try this out before the school trip.
7. When your child is younger, ask them to help you make all the preparations for the trip. Hopefully, when they are older, they can take responsibility for doing this!
8. Before the trip, talk to your child about what they might see and how this fits with what they have been learning about in school.
9. When your child returns from the trip, set aside some time to find out all about it.
10. If possible, plan a return visit to the venue some time later, so your child can show you what they learned and experienced.
