Llantwit Major School Year 7 Athletics Girls County Championships
Tuesday 23June 2015 saw the Year 7 Athletics Girls County Championships, held at Jenner Park in Barry. Llantwit Major attended the competition with 15 of their strongest Year 7 girls. There were some excellent performances on the track and field.
The 100m sprint saw Kirsty Law gain 2nd in the County, Llantwits’ Amy Robson and Ellie Morgan a chance to try a different event in the 1000m walk which resulted Amy finishing in 11th out of 30 overall. In the middle distance events Maisie Edwards and Mackenzie Whilding exhibited their dedication and passion for athletics in the 800m and the 1500m competing against some of the top Year 7 athletes in the county. On the field there were solid performers from all the throwers, Jade Rendall, Bethan Roberts, Abbie Baker and Emma Craythorne. The final race was the 4x100m relay, an event that every spectator looks forward to.
Llantwits’ Abbie Fernley, Erin Mclouglin, Lauren Budina and Kirsty Law finished 2nd overall, an excellent result and performance for the girls. A great day girls and well done to all athletes who represented Llantwit Major School.
