After months of hard training, careful choreography and orderly organisation, pupils at Llantwit Major School finally enjoyed the opportunity to show off their wide array of talents in a Gym and Dance display held at the school at the beginning of the month.

The night started with a performance from a dance group led by sixth former Liberty Jones and was followed by performances from pupils from three local primary schools. Pupils from every year group wowed the audience with spectacular gymnastics and dance sequences. Former pupils Rachel Jeffery and Nathan Mullet returned to the school to give an excellent floor display and the night reached a climax with a stunning vaulting display.

For the gymnasts, the performance capped a very good year after success in the Welsh Novice Championships, Welsh Floor and Vault, and Welsh Tumble and Vault Competitions earlier in the year. The PE department have been delighted with the efforts of pupils, many who have regularly attended a gym club organised by members of staff twice a week at lunch times. In addition, Rachel Jeffery, a former pupil at the school, runs a gymnastics club at the school as well as at a number of local primary schools, and helped choreograph a number of the gymnastics sequences.

The PE Department at Llantwit Major School wish to say big congratulations to all the pupils who worked so hard to put on such a wonderful night, and thank you to everyone who supported the event. All the money raised on the night will go towards funding equipment to ensure the standards of gymnastics and dance at Llantwit Major School remain this high for years to come!
