SCHEME OF WORK for GCSE Key Stage 4
YEAR 10 Overview
TERM 1 – Students need to visit the theatre at least twice.

Introduction to the course General workshops going over drama techniques, looking at improvisation, characterisation and narrative. Set first devising project based on a theme from a newspaper story. Introduction of diary to help prepare controlled evaluation assessment. (practise for DR 1) |

5-6 |
Introduction of first practitioner (Stanislavsky). Use devised pieces to illustrate and work on ideas. |
|
7-8 |
Introduction of second practitioner (Brecht). Use themes from set text to develop devised work using his ideas. |

9- 10 |
Performance of devised pieces. Introduce evaluation report (Practise for DR 1) |
|
11- 12 |
Commence text project e.g. BLOOD BROTHERS. (Practise for Dr 2) Look at text work by incorporating ideas from practitioners such as Artaud/Boal. |

13 - 14 |
Rehearsal of scenes from text. Performances. |
TERM 2 – Students need to visit the theatre at least twice.

Commence set text (‘Crash,Stone Cold or Dr, Korczak’s example’). Think of the practitioner’s ideas techniques to explore the text in class. Look and work practically on key scenes. Use different techniques such as freeze framing, hotseating, etc. Complete revision booklets and answer exam style questions. Rehearse scenes from text for performance. Dr 3 |

Performance of set text pieces. Introduce written paper. |

7-8 |
Work on another text piece. E.g. Walking with Shadows or something similar than can be workshops using practitioners ideas/ physical theatre. |
